Subject: Hazardous sidewalk at 1053 Olympic Street
Dear Mr. Stephens,
I am writing to you in response to a request for assistance from a
Springfield resident regarding a hazardous sidewalk adjoining your property
at 1053 Olympic Street. City staff investigated the complaint and found
that the sidewalk has been displaced to the extent that it could cause a
pedestrian to trip or stumble. I am sure you are as concerned as we are
that this situation be corrected.
You may not be aware that the Springfield City Code (copies attached) makes
it the property owners responsibility to maintain sidewalks abutting their
property. Chapter II, Article 7, Section 2-7-4 applies to the situation at
your property.
To correct this dangerous situation, I propose that you remove and replace
the displaced section of sidewalk. A sidewalk permit, Which can be obtained
at the Development Services Department at City Hall, is required.
If the situation is not corrected in a timely manner, we will have to send
you a formal enforcement notice, as required by the City Code. If you have
any questions, Please contact Ron Sather, Construction Inspector at 726-
2240. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Very truly yours,
d~
