AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING WARDS WITHIN THE CITY OF
SPRINGFIELD, ADJUSTING THE BOUNDARIES THEREOF, AMENDING SECTION
1-1-2 OF THE SPRINGFIELD CODE, 1965, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
section 1: Section 1-1-2 of the Springfield Code, 1965,
is amended to read as follows:
"1-1-2 Territorv - Wards. There are hereby established
in the City, six wards with numbers and territory
as follows:
Ward 1 - Precincts 102, 104, 106, 108, and 110
Ward 2 - Precincts 202, 204, 206, and 208
Ward 3 - Precincts 302, 304, 306, and 308
Ward 4 - Precincts 404, 402, and 406
Ward 5 - Precincts 502, 504, and 506
Ward 6 - Precincts 602, 604, 606, and 608
Said wards and precincts are described by location as
follows:

Ward 1. That section of the city beginning at the
intersection of Interstate 5 and the Eugene-springfield
Highway and thence North along Interstate 5 to the northern
city limit boundary; thence generally East along the
northern city limit boundary to North 17th Street; thence
South along North 17th Street and its Southerly extension
to the Eugene-Springfield Highway; thence West along the
Eugene-Springfield Highway to the point of beginning.
Ward 2. That section of the city beginning at the
Southwest corner of the city limit boundary line on
Interstate 5 and thence North along Interstate 5 to the
intersection of Interstate 5 and the Eugene-Springfield
Highway; thence East along the Eugene-Springfield Highway
to North 5th Street; thence South along North 5th Street to
"0" Street; thence East along "0" Street to North 6th
Street; thence North along 6th Street to Olympic Street;
thence East along Olympic Street to North 7th Street;
thence South along 7th Street and its Southerly extension
to the southern city limit boundary; thence generally West
along the southern city limit boundary to the point of
beginning. This excludes the island area outside
Springfield city limits.
Ward 3. That section of the city beginning at an
imaginary point of intersection between the southern city
limit boundary and the Southerly extension of 7th Street
and thence North along said Southerly extension and along

said 7th street to Olympic street; thence West along
Olympic street to 6th Street; thence South along 6th Street
to "0" Street; thence West along "0" Street to 5th Street;
thence North along 5th Street to the Eugene-Springfield
Highway; thence East along the Eugene-Springfield Highway
to the intersection of the Eugene-Springfield Highway and
Mohawk Boulevard; thence Southerly along Mohawk Boulevard
to North 18th Street; thence South along 18th Street to
Olympic Street; thence East along Olympic Street to North
21st Street; thence South along 21st Street and its
Southerly extension to the southern city limit boundary;
thence generally West along the southern city limit
boundary to the point of beginning.
Ward 4. That section of the city beginning at the
imaginary intersection of the southern city limit boundary
and the Southerly extension of 21st Street and thence North
along said Southerly extension and along 21st Street to
Olympic Street; thence West along Olympic Street to North
18th Street; thence North along 18th Street to Mohawk
Boulevard; thence North along Mohawk Boulevard to the
Eugene-Springfield Highway; thence West along the
Eugene-Springfield Highway to its intersection with the
Southerly extension of 17th Street; thence North along said
Southerly extension and along 17th Street to the northern
city limit boundary; thence generally East along the
northern city limit boundary to North 42nd Street; thence
Southerly along 42nd Street to the southern city limit
boundary; thence generally West along the southern city
limit boundary to the point of beginning. This excludes
the island area outside the Springfield city limits.
Ward 5. That section of the city beginning at the point
of intersection of the southern city limit boundary and
South 42nd Street and thence North along 42nd Street to the
Eugene-Springfield Highway; thence Easterly along the
Eugene-Springfield Highway to High Banks Road; thence
Easterly along High Banks Road to 56th Street; thence South
along 56th Street to North "A" Street; thence West along
North "A" Street to the Eugene-Springfield Highway; thence
Southerly along the Eugene-Springfield Highway to Main
Street; thence East along Main Street to South 59th Street;
thence South along South 59th Street to the southern city
limit boundary; thence generally West along the southern
city limit boundary to the point of beginning.
Ward 6. That section of the city beginning at the point
of intersection of the southern city limit boundary and
South 59th Street and thence North along South 59th Street
to Main Street; thence West along Main Street to the

Eugene-springfield Highway; thence Northerly along the
Eugene-Springfield Highway to North "A" Street; thence East
along North "A" Street to North 56th Street; thence North
along 56th Street to High Banks Road; thence West along
High Banks Road to the Eugene-Springfield Highway; thence
Westerly along the Eugene-Springfield Highway to the
northern city limit boundary; thence generally East along
the northern city limit boundary to the eastern city limit
boundary; thence generally South along the eastern city
limit boundary to the southern city limit boundary; thence
generally West along the southern city limit boundary to
the point of beginning. This excludes the island area
outside the Springfield city limits.
section 2: It is hereby found and determined that
matters pertaining to the establishment of ward boundaries in the
City of Springfield and the proper apportionment of population
with said wards is a matter affecting the welfare of the City of
Springfield, and that an emergency is therefore found and declared
to exist, and this ordinance shall therefore take effect
immediately upon its passage by the Council and approval by the
Mayor.
