Today, there is no industry standard that defines this engineered assembly, The AFL was built using ANSI/IEEE C37,59 "Standard Requirements for Conversion of Power Switchgear Equipment" as a guide, For the applicable portions of existing design and test standards including ANSI/IEEE C37,22, C37,20,3 and C37,20,4, Eaton assembled and tested the AFL to meet those requirements, Additionally the breaker as a component is UL Listed and was designed and tested to standards ANSIIIEEE C37,04, C37,06 and C37,09, Technical information on the VCP-T vacuum bre,aker is attached, Please see the Eaton certification of testing attached to this letter. This certification documents test evaluations completed for this assembly, Addition of the Eaton AFL dramatically improves electrical workplace safety required by NFPA 70E and OSHA 29 part CFR 10, so that IP maintenance personnel are now able to safely work on this equipment. This letter and the accompanying certificate confirms that that the AFL meets or exceeds applicable standards, ratings and testing required for this class of equipment. C37,59-2007 is a process standard and must be supported by specific product standards, There is no all inclusive IEEE/ANSI Standard that covers every aspect of a conversion of C37,20,3 metal enclosed switchgear to include a fixed mounted or draw-out power circuit breaker. As a ,result, design and testing utilized portions of several standards, The circuit breaker module was designed, rated, and tested to IEEE C37,04- 1999, C37,06-1997 and C37,09-1999, The test values for the assembly, including the additional bus structure and the breaker were derived from C37,20,3-200 1 and C37 .22-1997, The switch ratings are lower than the breaker ratings and the assembly must be rated based on the lowest rated component The assembly was qualified by test or evaluation of similar designs to the following ratings: 15 kV = Max Volts 600A = Assembly continuous current (650 C rise) with tin-plated copper bus' 36 kV = Power frequency withstand 95 kV = BIL impulse to IEEE Std-4 1995 40 kA = Isc RMS current 99 kA = Peak Momentary current 38 kA = Short-time current rating .
