HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 09-50 11/16/2009 Resolution No. 09-50 Adopting the Eugene/Springfield Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan Whereas, Springfield recognizes the threat that natural hazards pose to people and property within our community; and Whereas, undertaking hazard mitigation actions will reduce the potential for harm to people and property from future hazard occurrences; and Whereas, an adopted Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan is required as a condition of future funding for mitigation projects under multiple FEMA pre- and post- disaster mitigation grant programs; and Whereas, Springfield fully participated in the FEMA-prescribed mitigation planning process to prepare this Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan; and Whereas, the Oregon Office of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency, Region X officials have reviewed the "Eugene/Springfield Multi- Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan" (October 16, 2009) and pre-approved it (November 16, 2009) contingent upon this official adoption of the participating governments and entities; Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Springfield adopts the "Eugene/Springfield Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan" as an official plan; and Be it further resolved, Springfield will submit this Adoption Resolution to the Oregon Office of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency, Region X officials to enable the Plan's final approval. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Springfield, Oregon, this 16th day of November, 2009.
