ITEM TITLE: PURCHASE OF THREE (3) DUMP TRUCKS
ACTION REQUESTED: BY MOTION TO ACCEPT OR REJECT THE BID FROM F ARWEST
TRUCK CENTER FOR PURCHASE OF THREE (3) DUMP TRUCKS
IN THE AMOUNT OF $243,075
ISSUE STATEMENT: The Public Works Department is seeking Council approval for purchasing
three dump trucks with funds in the current budget.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The adopted FY07 budget includes funds to replace three, 18-27 year old
Maintenance Division dump trucks (Vehicle ID #'s 7-42, 7-43 and 7-45). These vehicles can no longer be relied
upon for daily, heavy-duty maintenance activities. The Public Works Maintenance Division completed a formal bid
process for three 6-7 yard dump trucks with several options (Option 1- Power down bed cylinder; Option 2-
Diamond plate protectors for the flat portion of the body; Option 3- Onboard electronic scales to measure front and
rear axle weights and GVW). After receiving bids, Staff deleted Option 1 and Option 3 to keep the dump truck cost
within the current budget.

Staff recommends the Council accept the dump truck purchase prices totaling $243,075 from Farwest Truck Center.
These vehicles meet all of our specifications. Adequate funds are available in the current budget for these purchases.
