Plans/permits must be obtained within 30 days or a demolition permit obtained and work completed wtihin 60 days from the date of the letter. See attached documents. Posting has been removed. Robert will repost 5/3/07 Permit obtained for demolition on May 9, 2007. Requested Bob Barnhart to inspect the site to see if demolition work has started as required in letter to owners dated May 3, 2007. Demolition has not started. Structure still boarded up. See attached documents or address file for copy of letter. Although demolition permit was obtained on May 9, 2007, demolition was to commence within 30 days of the letter. An inspection by Bob Barnhart revealed no work has begun Received a call from Joe Balaty, owner. He said this all started with a code enforcement issue with Jackie Murdoch. He told the tenants they had to move so they burned the structure. I told him I have no information on code enforcement action, but the structure has been in this condition for a very long time and a quick time line is needed to demolish and remove the structure. He, said that he is having a hard time getting contractors to commit to demolition and removal because of asbestos. I told him we need a timefrarne very soon. He said he would make some calls today to contractors and get a tirneline back to me in the next day or so. Building Permit & Inspection Summary Job Address: 1487 Main St 14831485 Scope of Work: Description of Work: Substandard Structure Mr. Balaty has not called me back with a time line on the demolition of the structure. Referring to Code Enforcment. Received fax from Joe Balaty showing he had received a bid from Jesse W Day, CCB#135612 for demolition, removal and disposal of buildings. The license of this contractor has been suspended - Insurance not on file (see attached documents). I contacted Mr. Balaty to inform him and explained that I needed a copy of a contract for the work to be performed before the end of this week or it would be referred to Code Enforcement on Monday, July 23, 2007. He said that the building may be evidence and his attorney may not want him to demolish it I told him ifhis attorney needed to contact the City Attorney regarding not demolishing the building, to let me know. Mr. Balaty also said this all started with Code . Enforcement, He said it was their fault because of something to do with recycling. At the end of the conversation, I reminded Mr. Balaty to provide me an actual bid with time line before the end of this week (7/20/07). Left a phone message for Robert Kinyon, President, A TEZ Inc regarding timefrarne to complete demolition at this location. Received a call from Tobert Kinyon, A TEZ Inc. He said that another person in his fIrm is working on the demolition but he does not know the timeline or even if the contract has been signed with the owner. Building Permit & Inspection Summary Job Address: 1487 Main St 1483 1485 Scope of Work: Description of Work: Substandard Structure Received call back from A TEZ inc. regarding the demolition proposal Mr. Balaty faxed me. I asked for the demolition time line and was told they would contact Mr. Balaty and let me know as soon as possible. Received a phone call and filx from Mr. Balaty regarding preparation for the demolition of the structure(s). Mr. Balaty has provided the City with a report from A TEZ and from Lane Regional Air Pollution Authority (LRAP A). The certificate in part from A TEZ states"...A TEZ, Inc. has successfully completed the removal of approximately 950 square feet of asbestos containing roofing from the south end of the house, 140 square feet of asbestos containing sheet vinyl, and 300 square feet of asbestos containing floor tile from the vacant residence located at 1483 Main Street...". See address file for copies of report from A TEZ and from LRAPA. Mr. Balaty assured me the structure(s) would be demolished soon. 1 thanked him for the information and asked him to please stay in contact with me through the completion of this project He agreed. I asked Guy DiXon to drive by poup",.J to see if demolition had begun. He said part of the roof on one unit was gone, other than that, no. I tried to phone Joe Balaty to ask for his time line for demolition, but no answer and no answering machine.
