RE: Occupancy Inspection at 1072 Main Street, Springfield, Oregon

Dear Mr. Seese.
At your request the Building Division of the City of Springfield conducted an Occupancy
Inspection of the building located at 1072 t1ain Street, Springfield, Oregon. ,The pro-
posed use of the building as 'apartments will cate~orize .its usage as a R-1 Occupancy.
The following items include but 'are not limited to a complete list of items that shall
be installed, repaired, or replaced in order to confonn to' all applicable codes for that
occupancy.
STATE STRUCTURAL SPECIALTY CODE AND FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY CODE Is.s.C.)
1. An attic partition dividing the attic area into horizontal areas not exceeding
3000 square feet shall be installed. The partition shall extend from the ceiling
to the roof and be constructed of not less than ~" gypsum wal1baord, I" tight-fitting
wood, 3/8" plYWOOd, or any approved noncombustible material that is a'dequately sup-
ported. S.S.C. 3205 (b) "
2. Adequate lintel suppport shall be provided for the doorways that are to be cut into
the existing masonry wall. S.S.C. 2420
3. A wired-in type smoke detector shall be installed in each rental unit~,==S;S.C:_I210
and Springfield City Code 7-5-6
OREGON ELECTRICAL SPECIALTY SAFETY CODE IE.S.S.C.)
1) The change of use from a motel to apartments will require an increase in the main
service to meet the demand of additional range/oven ciruits, small applicance cir-
cuits and lighting circuits. All wiring shall be installed in accordance with the
Oregon Electrical Specialty Safety Code Standards. E.S.S.C. 110-8

1) A single control valve shall be installed on 'the water supply line ahead of the
water meter. P.S.C. 1401
2) The roof drainage water shall be channeled into approved storm water drainage pipe
and discharged into the front catch basin. P.S.C. 1401
