Dear Mr. Seese: ',At your request the Springfield Building Division conducted an q" Occupancy Inspection at the above referenced address. ;' ,~he proposed use of the lower portion ~f the building as an assembly area with a potential occupant load of more than 50 people will categorize its usage as an A-3 Occupancy. The following items shall be installed, replaced or repaired in order to conform to the applicable code standards for that occupancy. ...' ,STRUCTURAL SPECIALTY CODE AND FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY CODE (S. S. C. ) 1. A minimum of two exit doors are required where the potential occupant load exceeds 50 people. Exit doorways shall be of a size as to permit' the installation of a door not'less than 3 feet in width and not less than 6 feet 8 inches in height. The doors shall be capable of opening so that the clear width of the exit is not less than 32 inches. S.S.C. 3304 (el ? All exit doors shall swing in the direction of exit travel and be provided with panic hardware except for a main exit door. A key locking device may be used in place of panic hardware, provided there is a readily visible sign adjacent to the doorway stating THIS DOOR MUST REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS.S.S.C. 3318 3. Door openings within the required rated exit corridor shall be protected by a door assembly having a fire-protection rating of not less than 20 minutes, and be self-closing. S.S.C. 3305 4. The enclosed usable space under the stairway shall have the walls and soffits protected on the enclosed side with 5/8" type X wallboard. S.S.C. 3306, 225 North 5th Street . They shall be not less than 30 inches nor more than 34" above the nosing of the treads, and extend not less than 6 inches beyond the top and bottom risers. S.S.C. 3306 ~ / 6. The glass panels adjacent to the doorway, located witin 12 inches of the door, shall be of safety glazing materials. S.S.C. 5406 , . 7. Walls within water closet compartments shall be finished with a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent surface to a minimum height of 4 feet above the bathroom floor.' S.S.C. 510 '8. The openable window area for natural ventilation shall be,not less than one twentieth of the total assembly room floor area. S.S.C. 605 9. The ceiling and wall coverings in the upstairs area that have been damaged from water contact shall be repaired. S.S.C. 2516 If) ELECTRICAL SPECIALTY SAFETY CODE (E.S.S.C.) 1. The buildings original electrical wiring intallation is approved for the A-3 Occupancy. All additional wiring, such as outlets for the washer, dryer and additional receptacle outlets shall be removed or rewired in accordance with applicable Code standards. E.S.S.C. 110-8 2. The electrical equipment located in grounded areas such as the kitchen, utility room and bathrooms shall be properly bonded. E.S.S.C. 250-42 . 3. Receptacle and switch cover plates shall be installed on all outlet boxes. E.S.S.C. 370-15 STATE PLUMBING SPECIALTY CODE CP.S.C.) 1. The downstairs bathroom that was locked at the time of inspection shall be completed. Water closet bowls for public use shall be elongated bowls equipped with open front seats. 'Other items such as parking, alley improvements, sidewalks, storm drainage, exterior lighting, etc., that have been required as part of the Conditional Use Permit or might be required as part of Development Coordination Board review, have not been addressed in this repor t.
