On April 4, 1983, I talked with you on the telephone concerning the existing west
wall of the structure we are considering remodeling. The wall is not of fire-rated
construction and has less than 5 feet setback from the west property line. This

It is ~ understanding from the phone conversation that you talked with Dave puent
and agreed that the proposed new occupancy is not considered a more hazardous
use and that we would not be required to up-grade the pre-existing code violations.
I am requesting that you send us a letter confirming this interpretation. We
have not yet made decisions to proceed with any of the items noted as proposed
changes. Could you also please note any problems you see with these proposals.
AI though we did not discuss it on the phone, the north side of the building has
similar existing setback and construction details. except larger windows. It is
next to a 14 foot alley. Will that require any different considerations?
