RE: Building Safety Inspection at 2020 Main Street, Springfield,
Oregon

Dear Mr. Rode:
At the request of the Springfield Fire Department, an inspection was
performed by the Springfield Building Safety Division on November B,
19B5 at the above referenced address. The following potentially
hazardous conditions were found which do not meet the, minimum
requirements of the Springfield Building Safety Codes, and must be
corrected.
ELECTRICAL
Kitchen Area:
1. The kitchen equipment obstructs access to the electrical
distribution panel. Thirty six inch clearance in front of the
panel must ,be maintained to assure access to the panel at all
times.
2. The continuity of electrical ground is impai red by loose
connectors JOlnlng the electrical box and conduit at the south
end of the COOking area. Secure the conduit and box to the
adjOining structure and tighten all connectors.
3.
Reconnect wiring at the computer and counter
provide proper polarity. Receptacle outlets must
polarity to reduce the hazard of electrical
circuits in connected appliances.

Assembly Area:
1. Provide outlets for electrical equipment in the vend~ng area at
west wall, which are appropriately sized to accommodate the
power requirements of the equipment. There are too many
appliances plugged into the existing outlet.
2. Provide an approved junction box to enclose the open electrical
wire splices at the lower left corner of the Bingo call board.

3. The use of extension cords is not approved as permanent wiring.
Install grounding type outlets adjacent to the cord connected
Bingo call boards, to allow direct connection without the use of
extension cords.
4. Replace all damaged cord and cord caps.
STRUCTURAL
1. Provide a ventilated shaft around the new range hood exhaust
duct, extending from the ceiling to the roof, which will provide
a one-hour rated fire separation between the duct and
surrounding attic space.
Permits are required for the alteration, extension or
installation of electrical circuitry and mechanical equipment.
The present equipment has been installed without proper permits
and inspections, and does not comply with the minimum Building
Safety Code requirements. Although permits were acquired,
subsequent to our inspection, for the hood equipment and related
modifications, an additional electrical permit is required for
the other electrical items noted above. The permit fee.will be
$15.60 and may be, obtained at this office. Obtaining the permits
and subsequent inspections will assure that the installations
will conform to Building Safety Code requirements.
