OR 97477 (503) 726-3753 FAX (503) 726-3689 December 15, 1993 Children's services Division 432 W. 11th Ave. Eugene, OR 97401 Attention: Donnetta Wood Subject: Children's Choice Montessori Day Care Center, 3988 Main Street, Springfield, OR. Dear Ms. Wood: I was asked by Lucas McQuillan to write you regarding the status of compliance of the subject center with the Building Codes administered by this office. The building was originally designed as office/retail space, and some modification was necessary to allow the ground floor of the building to be used for day-care purposes. The McQuillan's have endeavored to make the required modifications, and although they are not complete, significant progress has been made toward that end. Mr. McQuillan has kept me appraised of their progress, and is near the point of completion. We still require evidence of a recorded open space easement from the property owner and the installation of fire dampers for penetrations in the upstairs ceiling before final occupancy can be granted. An extension of our grant of temporary occupancy to allow the facility to operate while construction progressed has now expired. This places the center in jeopardy of closing if the remaining work is not completed soon. Satisfactory completion of the Code requirements for building safety still rests with the McQuillans. I expect to hear from them soon with a request for inspection of the final work at the center. I trust this letter will be of benefit in your decision whether to license the center. ]L~.
