At your request the Springfield , Building Safety Division conducted an' Occupancy In-
spection at the above referenced address.
The proposed use of the building as a "dance hall" will categorize its usage as an
A-2.1 Occupancy.

The following'items shall be' installed, replaced or repaired in order to'conform to
the applicable codes for that occupancy.
STRUCTURAL SPECIALTY CODE AND FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY CODE (S.S.C,)
1; The maximum occupant load of the building shall be determined by dividing the
usable floor area of the building by the occupant load factor of 15 sq. ft. per
occupant. A sign indicating the number of occupants permitted shall be posted
near the main exit from the building.

; 2. The total width of required exits '.' in feet shall be not less ,than the total
occupant load divided by fifty.
3. Every required exit doorway shall be of a size to permit the installation of a
door not less than 3 feet in width and not less thfn 6 feet 8 inches in height.
4, Panic hardware shall be required for all exit doors with the exception of the
main exit. A key locking device may be used in place of the panic hardware
provided there is a readily visible sign adjacent to the doorway stating "THIS
DOOR ~ruST REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS". The sign shall be in letters
not less than 1 inch high on a contrasting background.
5. Glazing in window panels where the lowest edge is less than 18 inches above the
finished floor level or walking surface shall be of safety glazing material. In
lieu of safety glazing, panels may be protected with a horizontal bar not less
than 1~ inches in width, located between 24 and 36 inches above the walking sur-
face,

6. Assuming a potential occupant load of approximately 300 persons, the required
number of bathroom fixtures are as follows:

At least one bathroom facility for each sex shall be made accessible for the ,0,
physically handicapped.
7. Toilet rooms shall be provided with ventilation consisting of a vertical duct
of not less than 100 square inches -in area or a mechanically operated exhaust
system capable of providing a complete change of air every 15 minutes.
,8.' Illuminated exit signs shall be installed at all required exit doorways"and
where necessary to clearly indicate the direction of egress from the building.
9. Underground tanks used for the storage of flammable or combustible liquids
that are abandoned shall either be removed from the ground or safeguarded in
a manner arid with materials approved by the Springfie1d,Fire Prevention Bureau.
10. 'One improved parking space shall be provided for each four occupants of the
building. The total number of required parking spaces to be made available
shall be determined by dividing the occupant parking factor of four into the
total potential occupant load. For minimum dimensions for parking areas, please
refer to the attached copy of Section 16.08 of the Springfield Zoning Code.
Building plans shall be submitted to the Springfield Building Safety Division indi-
cating the co~figuration of how the building will be utilized including all required
exitways and a site plan showing the area and number of available parking spaces.

defects and all necessary correction completed,
The above items are requirements only for the existing building relative to the
proposed occupancy. Other items that might be imposed by the City Councilor Spring-
field Police Department as part of the license requirement, shall be completed or in-
stalled before occupancy. Please refer to the attached copy of Article 5 of the
Springfield City Code in regard to license application.

a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued.
