We have identified backing as our number one hazard in our daily operations, not only in residential areas, but commercial as well. We think it of high importance to recognize the difficulty in adequately observing potential obstacles, and. more importantly children or pedestrians, in residential settings, particularly in summer months. In areas where planning does not provide for a turn around we 'are able to accommodate service with special placement of receptacles to limit our. backing to a minimum. When asked for input we highly suggest adequate space be providedfor not only our trucks but other emergency vehicles to turn around, to help keep the community we serve as safe as possible. Thanks you for asking our feedback on this issue. /jinqerely, k- // ~ if .~d1.<'" /Jack Kauble, Sanipac Safety Coordinator 541-736-3632 iack(CU3anioac. com Datel Keceived: P.O. Box 10928 ! I appreciate your awareness of the operational hazards with which your company deals with every day. I have passed your letter on to the planner and my supervisor. My supervisor was very glad to hear your issues, as the knowledge helps us to guide developers to create designs that will make our community a safer place to live. Again, thank you for taking the time to write me. I look forward to working with you in the future. As I showed you this morning on the plans for this Mountaingate North Cluster Subdivision; the 380 foot road in question was originally designed with a turnaround that would be adequate for fire truck. This has subsequently be'en removed. Would you or someone from your company be able to provide a letter to me describing your stance on the safety of backing up 380 feet several times a week with your company's vehicles? The road is shown just east of Lots 29-36 on .the sheets you copied from me this morning. The road is 21 feet wide, with one S sidewalk on the east side of the road. Also, please let us know if you would utilize a turnaround (again, adequate for fire truck) if it was provided. This is an issue that may cause some resistance, so if you could provide feedback soon it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your help. .
