UNIVERSAL WOOD WORKS 3415 Main Springfield, Oregori 97477 August 22, 1977 City of Springfield 346 Main Street Springfield, Oregon 97477 HE: Department of Public Works We received your letter of August 2, and again another August 12, clarifying the building in which we now occupy as a woodworking establish$ent does not comply with any of the requirements for an E-3 occupancy. We have looked into different possibHittes for our shops location and even tne probaThiljtyfof building on our present lot. After visiting with Mr. Detering (owner of the structure and property at 3415 Main) and explaining our position to him, we concluded that he does not intend to ressurect a new building nor sell the property so we can. Our alternative is to relocate which we have been desperately trying to do. We find there are problems in finding buildings in the proper zones that are modifiable to the code. In investigating into the purchase of property we also must consider the zone, and the cost of building an establtshment forour needs. We have other problems related to our relocation which we need time to work out. We cannot submit drawings and apply for a building permit because we have not yet found a plot of land. Is it possible you can grant us a grace period to get organized and move out of this building? We are sincerely striving to get this out of our hair and on the road to progress, and I know you are anxious for this also. A forty-ftve day extention sure would be of a great help to us now. Is it possible? Sincerely,
