OREGON 97477 PUBLIC WORKS September 12, 1979 346 MAIN STREET 726-3753 CERTIFIED LETTER Mr. Karst Bergsma 105 "Q" Street Springfield, Oregon 97477 * Dear Mr. Bergsma: It has come to our attention that a potentially hazardous condition exists relative to an abandoned or partially abandoned sewer line which exists on the D.J.'S Market property at 3305 Main Street, Springfield, Oregon. Our records show you to be the owner of this property more particularly described as Assessor's Map #17 02 31 31 Tax Lot #5100. Apparently, a motel or cabins once existed on the western edge of your property. When the buildings were demolished, the waste drain lines connected to the sewer were not capped off. D.J.'S,Market is currently connected to this old sewer line. Periodically, D.J. '5 waste line becomes clogged, causing waste matter to pour out of the uncapped drain lines mentioned above. This condition poses a potential public health hazard and is in violation of the Uniform Plumbing Code as adopted by the City of Springfield. This is your notice that by 30 days from the date of this letter (October 12, 1979) the waste drain lines mentioned above must be capped off so that no waste material may escape. An inspection of the sewer line will be conducted on October 12, 1979. Your anticipated cooperation is appreciated. Please direct all inquiries to the Springfield Building Division at 726-3753.
