:'!', .,.": The following cases have to do with obstructions in the public right-of-way, All
' occur either on South "A" or Main Streets. All present potential public safety
hazards in terms of traffic vision and pedestrian obstructions:

1. 1841 Main Street - Camper Canopies placed into the public right-of-way on
Main and South "A" Streets. Please refer to the attached letter.
NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING CASES
2. 136 South 6th Street - A sign and sale items placed on the South "A" and Main
Street rights-of-way. See attached letter which was hand delivered by
Sgt. Erickson. The business owners complied until just recently.
3. 2103 Main Street - Wayne's Fresh Produce. Numerous portable signs placed in
the Main Street and South 21st Street rights-of-way.

Three to four portable signs
Numbers 3 and 4 above have not been sent compliance letters from this office, but
both businesses. have been informed verbally about refraining from obstructing
public rights-of-way, its location, etc.
Therefore, I'm recommending and requesting that a form letter from your office be
compiled (sample attached) whereby a call from this office could initiate the
processing of such a letter similar to the procedure we used previously for portable
signs. The number of incidences of obstructions in the public right-of-way have
been steadily increasing, so I would like to develop a procedure now in order to
correct the existing problems and prevent further ones,
Please let me know your thoughts on the matter and whether 'the sample form letter
is acceptable.
