HomeMy WebLinkAboutCode Enforcement Correspondence 1984-2-13 v . . CITY OF SPRINGFIELD Department of Public Works February l3, 1984 Battery Recyclers 3223 Main Street Springfield, Oregon " . 97478 ~ Dear Business Owner(s): I'm writing with regard to the storage of vehicles associated with automobile body andlor repair businesses located within the City of Springfield. The City Code requires that all stored, damaged or inoperable vehicles exposed to public view for a period of more than 20 days be covered from view by a structure or enclosure of a permanent nature affixed to the ground (a fence or permanent building). Please refer to Section 5-l-l (3)(j) of the attached excerpt of that Code. It has been brought to our attention that stored vehicles are visible from both public and private property at your business location. A fenced area, alone, does not meet the intent of the Code. The fence must be of.solid materials or slatted chain link in order for it to meet screening requirements. We realize that some inoperable/damaged vehicles are temporarily stored in public view while waiting for repairs. However, recent periodic inspections have revealed that many such vehicles appear to be permanently stored in public view either as wrecked vehicles or those being used for parts. The inoperable or damaged stored vehicles on your property which are not covered from public view must either be removed from the property or screened from view in the above described manner. Your anticipated courtesy and cooperation in promptly correcting these conditions is appreciated. Please direct all inquiries to the Springfield Building Safety Division at 726- 3753.
