RE: Kathleen Howard Driveway
Kaye: I think we can accommodate Ms. Howard's request, but the City will need some form of a signed commitment
with a projected timetable for completion. A signed letter or signed copy of the email requesting the 18 month
extension would be acceptable. The request can be kept on file, tracked, and we can revisit the issue if the driveway
hasn't been paved by February 2011.

Andy and Kaye,
I received your email and have a few questions. As you know, I received approval from the City of Springfield
for the curb-cut, was given an instruction booklet, which I gave to my contractor, and met your inspector when
he came to inspect the curb cut for final approval, which he gave.
When Kaye contacted me about the mistake in the size of the paving, I was sorry to find that I need to have a
significant increase in size of the paving. My contractor told me that it will cost me at least $2500 to have that
corrected according to your latest instructions. That amount would have been less if it had been in the original
total bid for the project.
The outlet is used very little, and only as exit by me and my family/friends. Therefore, any erosion of gravel
onto the sidewalk is so small that it doesn't constitute a h1lZard.
Because of the financial hardship this places me under, I ,would appreciate an extension of up to 18 months to
complete the project.
I'd appreciate your approval of this extension.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Howard
