RE: Extension for Final Site Plan - Enterprise Rent-A-Car (Tentative Case DRC 2007-00083)
Dear Ms. Markarian,
In accordance with the provisions of the Springfield Development Code, we hereby request a 90
day extension to submit the Final Site Plan for the proposed Enterprise Rent-A-Car development
at 4396 Main Street. Site Plan Approval with conditions was granted by the City of Springfield
on January 31,2008 under case number DRC 2007-00083, The extension is being requested to
allow time to meet Condition of Approval No, 14 which requires the applicant to get an access
permit for the proposed access to Main Street.
The original proposal was to use the existing approach to Main Street for site access, as well as to
keep the existing northerly access on 44th Street. After Site Plan approval by Springfield, the
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) informed the applicant that they would not allow
the existing access to remain open because an alternate access on a lower functioning street was
available. We are currently negotiating with ODOT to keep the Main Street access by moving it
to the west, but will not have an answer from them for an estimated 60 days. The additional 90
day extension should allow ample time to get the answer from ODOT and then revise the Final
Site Plan as necessary. The Final Site Plan would be modified to show a permitted (by ODOT)
approach to Main Street or will show no access to Main Street, should ODOT deny the permit
request and require closing of the existing approach,
