The Comprehensive' Planning section will be taking up the "Main Street Corridor planning" torch in the near future.
I see this as one olJhe likely implementation measures that will be coming out of our lan'd inventory and TSP
work. The TGM cycle is starting up again (Pre-applications are due 12-15). I think this would be an excellent
project for TGM to fynd and I think it's very likely we'd be selected.
I'd be happy to set u'p the meeting suggested by Susie:

I would suggest that at some point, maybe at the start of the new year, we have a meeting (internal) to discuss
access management'so we can hear and understand our varying internal perspectives, develOp agreed upon
messages for consumption by folks external to the organization, and so that we can reduce the use of email for
sorting these kinds of things out. Anyone who wants to participate can, but I'd like to avoid debate by email,
which doesn't usually lend itself to creative problem solving or sense ofteam. Could someone humor me by
taking the lead in setting something up? Thanks

I tend to have a different view about Main St. access in terms of re-development and infill. That is, that these tiny,
barely serviceable lots will, of necessity, need to consolidate to an acre in size or larger to serve redevelopment
potential. As that occurs, access will not be the same problem for the larger sites as it now is for these much
smaller sized parcels because of the block spacing pattern on Main. Thus access is notthe driving Prtl m for

infill ad redevelopment; rather it is lot size, parcelization, and land massing. Solve these issues and we can
begin the mid-main renaissance. Tom .

I'm going to bite my tongue and stay out of this unless the Mayor asks me to jump back iry, but I'd like you all to
keep this in perspective when George Greer etal start talking about redeveloping East Main St. to increase
densities, etc. We ~i11 all grow old(er) and grey(er) waiting for access issues to get sorteg out with ODOT before
that ever happens. '
This partic~lar access issue has been reasonably vetted but the dance continues.
Let's see: How mimy new jobs are associated with this small project? Argh. I'm going to go find my Prozac
before I think about \his much more.
