A meeting was held in the ODOT District office on 03/13/08 to discuss approach application 7395. Joe Tokatly
(property owner), Tom Poage, Mike Kaiser, Molly Markarian (Springfield Planner), Lynn S,tuckrath, Mike Wilbur
and Jeffrey Lange were in attend?nce. '
The subject property at 4396 Main Street is a corner lot fronting McKenzie Highway (Main Street) and 44th
Street. The site planas submitted shows one approach to McKenzie Highway and one approach to N. 44th
Street. The proposed business for the site is an Enterprise Rental Car agency and the ADT is estimated to be 60
trips.
ODOT conveyed the difficulty in approving the approach to McKenzie Highway if access ib 44th Street alone can
be made to reasonably serve the site. The Property Owner and Engineer felt the prospective business tenant will
not accept the site with only one access. The meeting concluded with the Engineer proposing to provide ODOT
with engineering justification why the site can not function safely with a single approach, ~e presented the idea of
restricting the McKenzie Highway approach to right-in right-out by constructing a pork-chcjp or center raised
median design. The applicant requested that Lynn research the proposed approach loca\ion as well as the
approaches directly opposite on McKenzie Highway for existing ODOT permits, Lynn did the research
immediately following the meeting and found them to be unpermitted.
No binding agreements were made at this meeting and all parties will continue to work to resolve the issues
. discussed. Please feel free to add additional comments to my meeting notes if I have omitted important items out
or misstated anything.
