Subject: MLK Annexation - City Council Work Session

Gino/Bill: A Public Hearing for annexation of right-of-way along MLK Parkway is scheduled for July 6,2009, and formal
public notification will be sent out later in June. Staff did not initially request a work session'for this agenda item, but it
has been suggested that the City Council may benefit from a short work session meeting prior to the public hearing. The
City Council initiated the annexation action several months ago and, subsequently, City staff, determined that annexation
of other nearby public right-of-way should be done concurrent with the MLK Parkway right-of-way. As a result, the
staff-recommended annexation area differs somewhat from the City Council-initiated annexation area.
Do you feel that a short (15-20 min.) work session should be conducted prior to the July 6 public hearing? A placeholder
for the July 6 work session meeting has been tentatively booked. I will advise the project engineer of the recommended
course of action. Thanks "
