Dear Ms, Hoppcr:
We are assisting the Atlantic Richfield Company with the implementation of an image modification of the
existing pump island canopy at the above-refer~nced f"dlity, AReO owns and opera"'s the ARCO AM/PM
Mini,Market at 4202 Main Street in Springfield, Oregon, The mini.market f"dlhy is accompanied with a
pump island canopy for the retail disnibution of gasoline, At this time, we would like 10 verify that a permit
is not required for this proposed minor cosmetic change [0 the canopy.
AReo plans to re-image the c:.anopy by modifying the fascia panding and altering the trealO1ent of th~
canopy oolumns, The major componenlS of the re,imaging include a new blue/silver/blue banded fascia ""itl.
one illurnimted red ARCa logo per side, and silver canopy colunm wraps. Th~ fascia will be constructed
of silver ACM with blue decorative film (top and bottom), and the column wraps will be conSll'1.lcted of 14
gauge steel, pre-finished with silver powder,coated paim, Architecmrally, the proposed te,imaging is a vast
improvement 10 the existing appearance of this t~1Cility,
The 'New Look" image has been specifically developed to: I) differentiate ARCO's gasoline operation from
il5 convenience store franchise; 2) retlect a polished, high,tech, clean, simple, and bold presentation of
ARCO gasoline; and 3) move ARCa forward with an up-to-dale intage improvement program.
We are currently in compliance with the allowable sign area, TIle moditication will not increase the sign
area for this facility,
