R.BRUCE FRANK CONSULTING ENGINEER 3360 River Road S., Salem, Oregon 97302, Telephone 503/581-9383 CIVI L STRUCTURAL SURVEYING June 13, 1981 Project No. 97.80 Mr. Loren Pledger Plans Examiner 346 Main Street Springfield, OR 97477 RE: NELSON'S TIRE WAREHOUSE Springfield, Oregon Dear Loren: This letter will confirm my telephone conversation with you on June 5,1981, concerning the captioned project. I expressed concern that Metal Clad Builders had phoned me earlier in the week requesting that I send two copies of my engineered plans to the Springfield building department. Copies of these drawings were first subini tted in June 1980. I am told that the permi twas not picked up by Sherman Ruttencutter, the owner, and thus the orig- inal drawings were destroyed. I learned from my conversation with Metal Clad Builders that they have obtained the engineering services of George Griffin to redesign the building utilizing wood frame construction and metal siding. I further learned from this conversation that the building department had advised Mr: Ruttencutter that my drawings would be required in as much as the drawings bearing the engineering stamp of George Griffin were incomplete. I object to the use of my drawings under these conditions since two distinct types of construction are re- presented by each design which bear different engineering stamps. As you indicated, the contractor or the owner may attempt to re- submit drawings to your department which would include part or all of my original drawings which might be reproduced through use of autopositives. I understand that you will advise Mr. Ruttencutter should this happen that your department can .riot"accept drawings.. under these conditions. co En~eer
