Box 863 Eugene, Oregon 97440 Dear Mr. Lake: I'm writing with regard to the structure located at 4139 Main Street, Springfield, Oregon more particularly described as Lane County'Assessors' Map #17-02-32-32, Tax Lot #2700. During the last month and one half, two fires have occured at this location. The last, which happened on June 11, 1982, caused total damage to the structure. ' Only a portion of the perimeter wall and the front porch is left standing; the wood is completely char- red and unsalvageable. The chimney is .intact; however, it is supported by a charred wood foundation which has been structurally weakened from the fire and is in potential danger of collapsing. In summary, the structure is a potential public health hazard and is hereby declared a dangerous structure. The reamins of the building must be demolished, the sewer capped at the property line, and all debris removed from the property. A work schedule must be submitted to this office by seven (7) days from the date of this letter (June 21, 1982). Work must be- gin by 15 days from the date of this letter (June 29, 1982). and.:a11 work must be com- pleted by 30 days from the date of this letter (July 14, 1982). Permits for demolition and sewer capping must be purchased at .the Department of Public Works, 225 North 5th Street. You may appeal from this notice and order to the Building Board of Appeals provided the appeal is made in writing and filed with the Building Division within 7 days from the date of service of this letter. Failure to appeal will constitute a waiver of all right to 'an administrative hearing and determination of the matter. If you do not com- ply with these requirements, the matter will be promptly referred to the City Attorney's Office to secure compliance through legal enforcement measures.
