RE: 4022 Main Street - Proposed Auto Repair Shop

Gentlemen:
At your request, the Springfield Building Safety Division conducted an Occupancy
Inspection at the above referenced address.
The proposed use as an "auto repair shop" may be categorized as a B-1 Occupancy
as long as the activities include only the exchange of parts and maintenance,
involving no open flame, welding or use of flammable liquids.
The following items shall be installed, replaced or repaired in order-to conform
to the applicable codes for that occupancy:
STRUCTURAL SPECIALTY CODE AND FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY
Repair or replace the fractured floor joist in the storage 10ft.
UNIFORM FIRE CODE
Coordinate the fire extinguisher requirements with the Department of Fire and
Life Safety.
ELECTRICAL SPECIALTY SAFETY CODE
Unprotected wiring in the overhead- 10ft floor structure must be covered on the
underside with gypsum board or other acceptable material.
The above listed requirements are relative to the existing building and the proposed
occupancy only. Any changes to the building which may be contemplated by you or
your tenants should be submitted to the Building Safety Division to check compliance
of such changes with applicable codes.

quired insp~ctions conducted, before a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued.
