"di.~",d"" of the combined efforts of a special sign subcommittee formed by the Planning Commis.. sion, representatives of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, and the Springfield Com- mittee for Citizen Involvement. A number of public hearings also occured for further citizen input. Then, as of January 1981, the Springfield City Council adopted the new Sign Ordinance. jl Springfield, Section 9-7-21(5) of the Sign Ordinance requires abandoned signs (signs which advertise a business no longer located on the premises) to be removed. Abandoned signs must be removed by thirty (~O) days from the date of the notice of such violation. As a result of the recent City-wide sign survey, the following violation was found on your property relative to abandoned signs: I All signs advertising "The Spaghetti Place". "". ":"_' '-- .' ' , " . "4 By February 13, 1982 , the above referenced violation of the Springfield Sign Ordinance must be corrected. Because the sign survey was completed in July of 1981, it is possible you havo already taken steps to correct or have completed correcting this violation. If this is the case, please contact this .office as soon as possible. The Building Board of Appeals is empowered to hear and grant variances to the Sign Ordin- ance, provided a written appeal is submitted to the Superintendent of Building within 10 days of the date of receipt of this letter. The Board of Appeals may grant a variance with regard to the unusual size, shape, or dimension of a site of because of existing structures thereon in relation to a sign or its placement.
