Subject: Notice and Order to Comply with the
Uniform Building Code, Volume IV
Dear Sir:
The Building Department of the City of Springfield inspected the building located
at 4485 Main Street, County Assessor's Map 17 02 32 43, Tax Lot 2100. These
records show the property to be under your ownership.
As a result of incomplete construction, broken windows, and lack of maintenance
the structure is substandard and is in a deteriorated condition. The Building
Department of the City of Springfield has posted the building "UNSAFE 'STRUCTURE--
DO NOT OCCupy" and declared it to be a dnagerous building. Any building declared
a dangerous building under the Dangerous Building Code shall either be repaired in
accordance with the 1973 Uniform Building Code, as adopted by the City of Springfield,
or it shall be demolished at the option of the owner of the building.
Permits for rehabilitation or demolition of this building shall be obtained and
work must be started within 30 days from the date of this letter, and such work
shall be completed and the property cleaned up within 45 days of this letter. If the
building is demolished, the sewer shall be capped off at the property line. If
compliance is not obtained, the City may cause the building to be demolished and
charge the cost thereof against the property or its owner.
Be advised that any person having any record, title, or legal interest in the
building may appeal from the notice and order of the building official to the
Board of Appeals, provided the appeal is made in writing as provided in this code
and filed with the building official 'within 30 days from the date of service of
this notice and order.
