Re: Violation of Section 302 of the Uniform Code for
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings.

Dear Mr. Ritzdorf:
This office represents the Building Department of the City of
Springfield. Please find enclosed for your information and
review a copy of a letter to you dated January 20, 1982, from
Sally Johnson, Environmental Controller, City of Springfield.
Ms. Johnson notes that your property at 4489 Main Street, is
in violation of Section 302 of the Uniform Code for Abatement
of Dangerous Buildings as adopted by the City of Springfield.
Apparently, as a result of fire and partial demolition of the
structure, debris and other used materials exist on the property.
These conditions constitute a potential public health and .
safety hazard. Additionally, if the structure was connected
to a sanitary sewer, the sewer must be capped off tbe property line,
or, alternatively, if the structure was connected to a septic
tank, the sludge must be removed by a licensed disposal service
and the tank filled with clean, bar run gravel or other approved
material. '
The permits for further demolition and sewer capping are required
and may be obtained at the City of Springfield Public Works
Department, 225 North 5th Street, Springfield, Oregon.
This work must be undertaken and completed no later than October 15,
1982. If the work is not completed by that date, the matter will
be referred to the Office of City Prosecutor for prosecution.
