At your request, the Springfield Building Safety Division recently
conducted an inspection of the building(s) at the above address._ The
purpose of the inspection was to determine the suitability of the
building(s) for the proposed use as indicated.
Based on the proposed occupancy, the existing conditions which are
mentioned below do not meet the minimum Building Safety Code requL ~_~_.ts.
Corrective measures must be taken prior to occupancy to install, repair,
replace or modify the following items in order for the building to conform
to applicable safety codes:
Electrical
1. Extension cords shall not be used to connect tight fixtures, appliances or
permanent equipment to power sources. The equipment shall be plugged
directly into an approved receptacle or permanently wired to the power
supply.
2. Ground fault protection is required on power sources supplying diagnostic
and portable equipment.
Plumbing
3. Install an approved temperature and pressure relief valve on the hot water
heater and terminate the discharge piping downward within 6" to 24" of the
floor. .
4. Install an atmospheric vacuum breaker on the wash sink faucet.
Building permits must be obtained for the above items which involve

repairs or modifications to the electrical system of the building and for
any additions or revisions you wish to make to the building.
A licensed electrical contractor is required for all new work and
substantial alterations to existing electrical systems in structures which
are for sale, lease or rent. However, work on alterations to and
replacement of parts for electrical devices which is necessary for
maintenance of approved existing electrical installations may be done by
the owner of the property.
