Courtesy Inspection at 5272 Main Street #15, Springfield, Oregon.
Dear ,Mr. Hodges:
At the request of your tenant, the Springfield Building Safety Division conducted an
inspection of the property located at the abo"e address. The inspection revealed items
....hich do not meet the minimum City Housing Code requirements and must be corrected.
They consist of the following:
Structural
1. Deterioration is evident in the roof covering and ....indow sills, allowing for weather
infiltration.
Electrical
2. Due to inadequate and improper maintenance, illegal alterations and/or additions
to the original system, and deterioration resulting from "old age", the existing
electrical service equipment creates a potential hazard for electrical shock or fire
and shall be replaced. A new meter base and electrical service panel shall be
installed in compliance with the current Oregon Electrical Specialty Code.
3. The unprotected, branch circuit electrical cable below the existing fuse box has
deteriorated to a potential hazardous condition. The electrical cable shall either be
abandoned in an approved manner, or replaced with electrical wiring suitable for
the conditions of installation and use.

4. All inoperable or damaged electrical outlets and switches creating a potential hazard
for electrical shock or fire shall either be repaired or replaced.
5. The improper use of extension cords was noted. When used in place of permanent
wiring, it is potentially hazardous and can cause electrical shock or fire. Extension
cords shall not be run through floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows or other
similar openings.
The above required corrections shall be completed with appropriate inspection approvals
from this office within 20 days from the date of this letter or measures to discontinue the
use of the building may be initiated.
Please note that installation or repair of electrical systems on property which is intended
for lease, sale or rent must be done by an electrical contractor who is licensed by the State
of Oregon.

8:00-9:00 a.m., 1:00-2:00 p.m., or 4:00-4:30 p.m. at 726-3759.
