Dear Mr. Mrs. Schafer:
Our records show that you own the property on the south side of Main Street
in the 6300 block, more particularly known as County Assessor's Map # 17023430,
Tax Lot #4502. On what appears to be this tax lot, a directional sign has
been erected advertising Grier Farms. This sign is in violation of Section
9-7-19(4) of the springfield Sign Ordinance relative to signs advertising
businesses not located on the same property (please refer to the attached
excerpt from the Sign Ordinance. In addition, signs advertising businesses
are not permitted in residential zones.
The sign must be removed by thirty (30) days from the date of this letter
(January 4, 1982). If you no longer own this property, or if the sign is
not located on your property, please contact.the Springfield Building Division
at 726-3753.
Your anticipated courtesy and cooperation is appreciated.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Schafer:
Please find enclosed for your information and review a copy of
a letter to you dated December 3, 1981, from Sally Johnson,
Sign Inspector, City of Springfield.
It is my understanding that no action has been taken on your
part to comply with Section 9-7-19(4) of the Springfield Sign
Ordinance as set forth in Ms. Johnson's letter to you. Ms.
Johnson states that the sign must be removed by January 4, 1982.
Apparently, .that has not been accomplished. If you no longer
own the property, or if the sign is not located on your property
please contact the Springfield Building Division at 726-3753.
The purpose of this letter is to request that you comply with
the Springfield Sign Ordinance. If you fail to comply with
the Springfield Sign Ordinance by March 1, 1982, an action will
be instituted in the Municipal Court of the City of Springfield
to compel your compliance.

Illuminati!?!:!. All signs and other illuminrtion within the city shall be
subject to the following restrictions upon illumination:
(1) No exposed refl ecti ve type bul b, no strobe 1 i ght or incandescent
lamp which exceeds fifteen (15)'watts shall be used so as to expose the face of the
bulb, light or lamp to any public street.
(2) No bl inking or WIshing 1 ight or group of 1 ights shall be allowed as
part of a sign, except for signs giving time and temperature information with this
type of lighting limited solely to that pDrtion of the sign which provides such
i nformati on.
9-7-19 'Prohibited Siqns. No sign shall be constructed, erected or maintained:

(1) Which bears or contains statements, words Dr pictures of an obscene,

(2) Which purports to be, or is an imitation of, or resembles an official
traffic sign or signal, or which bears the words "STOP." "GO SLOW," "CAUTION."
"DANGER," "WARNING," or similar words.
(3) Which, by reason of its size, location, movement, content, coloring
or manner of in.umination may be confused with or construed as a traffic control
device, or which hides from view any traffic or street sign or signal.
