No.: Weather: KK RECEIVED 'h'l JUN 12 Z009 ~I\'J ~I G 722-80173-209 Thurston Elementary School 7345 Thurston Road Springfield, Oregon P0272-334-0809 Clear Field Observations and Comments As requested, a PSI representative was on-site to observe a re-proof roll at the following locations: south end of project south of covered play area. Area includes part of fire lane access (see attached site plan). The re-proof roll was co~ductedusing a fully loaded tandem axle dump truck weighing approximately 50,000 pounds. Minor deflections (pumping) and wheel tracking up to 4 inches in depth still occurred indicating an over optimum moisture, soft subgrade. The area had been scarified and aerated for 4 days but had not dried out enough to stabilize, ,Depth of cuts range from 1 to 2 feet below existing site grade. PSI recommends over excavating the area 4 inches and placing geotextile fabric prior to placing crushed rock. Also verified that the area had previously had this same structure which held up to constructions traffic, The area proof rolled measured 70' NS by 160' EW. To the best of our knowledge, the work inspected above was in accordance with the building department approved design drawings, specifications and applicable workmanship provisions of the International Buildinq Codes, Inspector: Raymond Aliperti CCB #176269 If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us at 541-746-9649, trjl1~ ) Raymond All >erti Project Manager Attachment: Site Plan c: KPFF - ugo.costa@kpff.com Hyland Construction - markb@jhcons\.com Milstead & Associates - angus@milstead.us Mahlum - rberndt@mahlum.com Robertson/Sherwood & Architects - dguadagni@robertsonsherwood.com Springfield School District - jsaracen@sps.lane.edu Yolanda Bird - yolanda.bird@sps.lane.edu City of Springfield THIS REPORT IS PROVIDED FOR THE INFORMA nON OF THE CLIENT ONLY. Clear Field Observations and Comments As requested, a PSI representative was on-site to observe a proof roll at the following locations: south end of project south of covered play area. Areas include part, of fire lane access, (See Attached Site Plan). The proof roll was conducted using a fully loaded tandem axle dump tr_uck weighing approximately 50,000 pounds. Minor deflections (pumping) were observed under the wheel loads and wheel tracking up to 4 inches in depth occurred, indicating a relatively soft, over optimum moisture subgrade at this time. PSI recommended aerating the subgrade by scarifying and allowing the subgrade to aerate until at least Monday June 1, 2009, At that time, the area should be re-proof rolled and re-evaluated prior to placing the 12inches of base rock.
