CITY OF SPRINGFIELD Department of Public Works October 19, 1981 * /; Mr. Tom Large c/o Daren Engle Real Estate 1749 Main Street Springfield, Oregon 97477 Dear Mr. Large: I'm writing to inform you that the next Board of Appeals Meeting will be on November 5, 1981. We lost one member and two members were out of town most of October; therefore, we hadn't a quorum needed to hold a legal meeting. You will be sent an agenda specifying time and place before the November 5th meeting.. ,Your patience and understanding is appreciated. I spoke with the City Attorneys' Office with regard to your existing sign. As you know, the permit for that sign was issued in error. The sign should have been a maximum height of 5' rather than 13' (please refer to the at- tached copy). Because of the confusion created partially by misinterpre- tation of a new Sign Code,' the City Attorney's Office felt that your sign should be allowed the nine (9) year amorization period as is the maximum allowed for signs which were erected prior to the adop'tion of the new Sign Ordinance (January 1, 1981). ' Of course, as you mentioned may, happen, if your property is rezoned to commercial beforetheamorization period is up, the existing sign will comply with the new, Code.. as would the proposed reader board. At pre- sent, the Board of Appeals will consider only the reader board variance request. . Please direct all inquiries to the Springfield Building Division ,at 726- 3753. Sincerely, , 0Lt(2~~i:.t7 ~tlY johnson ' Environmental Inspector 5" %0wfVle\.~ V\' sf . . cc: Ronald B. Clark, Superintendent of Building ~ Joseph J.
