to issuing the building permit:
0
1.DBuilding Plans do not match approved
plans for storm water quality. Please resubmit
plans showing catch basins retrofitted with
oil-filtering media. Also see page 2 of the land
use decision dated October 31, 2001 stating,
"The applicant is proposing oil filtering media
for stormwater catch basins."
Please resubmit plans showing compliance
with the above item.

Cole Architect. Building/Planning 1) Please
provide an allowable area analysis for the
building 2) exit lights on sheet 7.1 A are shown
at the four exterior door locations and grid
D9,3.9. No point may be more than 100 feet
from the nearest visible sign. Please clarify
how this is achieved. The exit sign at grid D.9,
3.9 appears to direct occupants to the dock
area. Note that exits may not pass through the
store rooms. 3) Sheets 2.1A and 3.2 show a
ramp at door 30. Handrails are required
unless the slope is 1 :20 or less. Please
confirm the proposed slope. 4) Minimum
ventilation air requirements are specified ini
OSSC Section1203.2 and Table 12-A. Please
clarify how the ventilation calculations on sheet
5.0A corresponds to these requirements. 5)
Proivde shop drawings for all new storage
racks for review prior to installation. 6)
Special inspection is required as outlined in
OSSC Section 1701.5. Please complete the
enclosed special insepction sechedule and
obtain the applicable signatures. Special
inspection appears to be required for, but not
limited to: Concrete - Masonry - High Strenght
bolts - Structural welding - Epoxy Anchors.
STRUCTURAL 1) Please provide snow drift
calculations for review. 2) The loads used for
the column footing and column design on page
Fl does not correspond with reactions from
teh roof beam design on page RF5. Provide
revised calculations for review, including
column and footing weights. 3) Calculation
page F3 evaluates the moment frame footing
at frame joint 5. It appears that joints 1 and 3
have higher moments with less resisting loads.
Please clarify. 4) The grade beam analysis on
page F3 determines required steel based on
the reinforcement ratio (rh09) from the PCA
handbook. Please verify that this ratio is for
total steel and not tension steel as generally
determined for a moment condition. A copy of
the PCA documentation may clarify the design.
5) Calculation page L3 evaluates the roof
diaphragm shear for the new addition at the
east side of grid 0.8. Provide calcualtions for
the west side of grid 0.8, connection the
existing roof to the new braced frame. 6)
Please verify that the new adition does not
adversely affect the drag struts and
connections along grid B. 7) Provide
calculations for the drag struts, tension ties,
shear wall and plate connection at grid 0.8. 8)
Calculation page W1 shows a masonry shell
thickness of 1.25 inches and 5-7/8 "d"
distance. Please clairfy how this is achieved
with #5 bars and a minimum 1/4" distance (fine
grout) required from the steel to the masonry.

Fed Ex'd information to Tom Rogers from
Barbara Stadey, Lundin Cole Architects
regarding ... 1) Allowable area analysis.
Square footage computations of storage listed
as S 1 occupancy, etc. An updated area
analysis has been included. Please note that
the Albertsons building only has separation on
three sides, allowing only 60% increase in area
OSSC section 505 1.2. In reviewing our
square footage, we lowered the total number
as Section 207 floor area describes that the
floor area does not include exterior walls. I
have attached a reduced print that describes
which areas were considered as S2
occupancy. The remainder of the building will
be marked as an M occupancy. 2) Exit lights
have been resolved. 3) Ramp at door 30 has
been resolved. 4) Minimum ventilation air
requirements have been resolved. 5) Shop
Drawings... Please refer to the attached copy
of the fax sent 3/27/02 addressed to Don
Moore explaining how pallet racks are existing
to remain and to disregard the 11th page of the
fax as it was a mistake. 6) Special inspection
as outlined.. Please see attached speical
inspection schedule that has been completed
and signed by all known parties. Contractor
will be determined in a future bidding process.
7) Snow Drift calculation have been resolved.
Column footing and column design... The
information submitted has resolved the issues
noted. Hoever during a review of the
responses, Ms. Stady realized that reference
to calculations on page F2 should have also
been included. Please review the column
capacity and footing size with respect to the
loads on calculation sheet R5. 8) Moment
frame footing has been resolved. 9) Grade
beam analysis has been resolved. 9)
Calculation on roof diaphragm shear. The
existing roof diaphragm west of grid 1 does not
need to be upgraded to current standards, as
long as the load is not increased or structural
system compromised by the new addition.
The six foot extension of the diaphragm to the
new moment frame would change the loading.
This change is negligible and does not justify
modifying the existing diaphragm. The
transition from the old to new diaphragm is not
specified on the plans. Will the ends of the
sheating the bstaggered to is the specific
nailing required at the transition? 10) Drag
struts and connections along grid B have been
resolved. 11) Calculations for drag struts ...
Calculations page L23 evaluates 16d nails 2"
oc each side of the 4x6 plate. Detail 12/2.2 b
sepcifies 10d nails at 2" O.C. The calculations
do not evaluate the shear stress in the plywood
or specify the grad required. Proivde
additional information for review. OSSC
specifies that spacing shall be sufficient to

Fed Ex'd information to Tom Roger!
from Barbara Stadey, Lundin Cole
Architects regarding... 1) Allowable
area analysis. Square footage
compulations of storage listed as SI
occupancy, etc. An updated area
analysis has been included. Please
note that the Albertsons building
only has separation on three sides,
allowing only 60% increase in area
OSSC section 505 1.2. In reviewing
our square footage, we lowered the
total number as Section 207 floor
area describes that the floor area
does not include exterior walls. I
have attached n reduced print that
describes which areas were
considered as S2 occupancy. The
remainder of the building will be
marked as an M occupancy. 2) Exit

diaphragm west of grid 1 does not
need 10 be upgraded to currenl

The six foot extension of the
diaphragm to the new moment
frame would change the loading.
This change is negligible and does
not justify modifying the existing
diaphragm. The transition from the
old to new diaphragm is not

analysis has been included. Please
note lhal the Albertsons building
only has separation on three sides,
allowing only 60% increase in area
OSSC section 505 1.2. In reviewing
our square foolage, we lowered the
total number as Section 207 floor
area describes that the floor area
does not include exlerior walls. I
have attached a reduced print that
describes which areas were
considered as S2 occupancy. The
remainder of the building will be

need to be upgraded to currenl

The six foot extension of lhe
