ORDINANCE NO. 5736
(GENERAL)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 304, SUBSECTION (a) OF THE SPRINGFIELD
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION "BUILDING SAFETY
CODES".
THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section 304 (a) of the Springfield Development Services
Department Community Services Division "Building Safety Codes" is hereby
amended to read as follows:
SECTION 304. FEES
(a) PERMIT FEES. Fees for permits shall be as specified in Tables
3-A through 3-F and shall be paid to the Building Official. The
determination of value or valuation under the provisions of these Codes
shall be made by the Building Official. The valuation to be used in
computing permit and plan check fees shall be the total value of all
construction work for which the permit is issued, as well as all finish
work, roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning,
elevators, fire extinguishing systems, and any other permanent work or
equipment.
In addition to the fees identified in Tables 3-A through 3-F, an
administrative charge in the amount of three percent of the total
permit fee for each Specialty Code permit shall be collected by the
Building Official at the time of permit issuance. The three percent
administrative charge shall be placed in a dedicated revenue account
for the purpose of defraying permit and inspection service costs.
Where work for which a permit is required by these Codes is started or
proceeded prior to obtaining said permit, the fees specified shall be
doubled, but the payment of such double fees shall not relieve any
person from fully complying with the requirements of these Codes in the
execution of the work or from responsibility for any penalties
described therein.
ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield this 2nd
day of May ,199'4;, by a vote of 6 for and 0 against.
