I talked to Al Gerard, Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal and Mark Walker, Deputy
Chief/Operations, regarding the site plan as pnisfmted at the Development Review
Committee Meeting of September 19,2006 and your subsequent difficulty in meeting
Condition #12 concerning fire department access requirements from the Planning
Department Staff Report and Decision issued October 2, 2006. After discussing the
condition and a review of the .site plan, these options were discussed:
1. Your consideration to move building as discussed via phone call on January 19,
2007 to allow access on west side of the building away from the'property line
meeting 2004 Springfield Fire Code Appendix D, Section DI05.2: 26 foot wide
ladder truck access,
2. Provide ajoint use access agreement to allow ladder truck access as stated in #1.
3. Build the structure in accordance with the provisions specifie4 in Sections 403,2
through 403.14 of the 2004 Oregon Structural Specialty Code (or 2007 Oregon
Structural Specialty Code depending upon date of application for permit),
Anyone of these options would be viable to meet the requirements of Condition 12.
There may be other options that we are not ~ware of that you can also propose provided it
, meets the access requirements in the fire code.
