RESOLUTION NO. 96-13
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING ARTSPLAN
WHEREAS, the Mission of ArtsPlan is to "strengthen the Arts
and Arts Organizations of Western Oregon by increasing
collaborative efforts and serving as advocates for their'
increased support, viability and appreciation"; and
WHEREAS, ArtsPlan is a program established by the Arts
Foundation of Western Oregon, a nonprofit Oregon corporation
which involved Lane County community members, artists, arts
administrators, business leaders, public officials, educators and
arts patrons in the establishment of the ArtsPlan; and
WHEREAS, the goals of the ArtsPlan are to:
1. Increase access tOI knowledge ofl and involvement in the
Arts by local citizens and visitors.
2. Establish Western Oregon as a widely-recognized center
for Arts education.
3. Enhance the ability of artists and Arts organizations to
thrive artistically and economically in Western Oregon.
4. Establish Western Oregon as a center of cultural
activity; and,
WHEREAS, obtainment of those goals will help to establish
Springfield-Eugene as a unique place to experience the arts, as a
recognized center for arts education, and will enhance the
ability of artists in our community to thrive artistically and
economically in the Springfield-Eugene area.
NOW THEREFORE based upon the foregoing recitals be it hereby
resolved as follows:
The Common Council of the City of Springfield hereby
applauds and endorses the goals of the ArtsPlan to improve the
state of the arts in the Springfield-Eugene metropolitan area.
The foregoing Resolution adopted by the Common council
approved by the Mayor of the City of springfield this 2nd
