Staff Pauly said that the Springfield Extra comes out on Friday so we could put an ad in it. Commissioner Barbero asked if we are going to put the plaques on the buildings prior to the event. Staff Pauly suggested that we have one installed, and Commissioner Tomblin suggested the Museum since it is next to the Fanners' Market. Commissioner Guthrie suggested that the Mayor be there. The event will be May 29th. Commissioners Guthrie, Barbero, and Tuttle will meet to select the photos and create the text. Dorris Ranch Staff Markarian said Willamalane plans to demolish the Briggs house. Commissioner Tuttle asked if they were demolishing it with a wrecking ball or if they will be taking it apart. Staff Markarian said they are considering a tree felling and re-planting process on the fann, as well. I ITEM 5: Land Use Application - 607 D Street ~ .e .Q ~ en (ij <: .5l .C: o Mary Broadhurst, owner of the property, presented her application to convert her garage into a guest bedroom area. It would mean taking off the garage door and installing a window and a door. It would be a Type I application. Ms. Broadhurst said that there would be a living area, wet bar, and bathroom on the inside. It will not have a separate kitchen. The only kitchen is in the main house. Commissioner Corbin confirmed that it would not be an accessory dwelling. Ms. Broadhurst said that she didn't need a kitchen since it would be used as a guest bedroom. She is looking at putting in skylights on the east and south side. Staff Jones asked if the only modification is to area around the garage door. Ms. Broadhurst said yes and there would be new siding and shingles. Commissioner Corbin asked if there are going to be any new openings. The answer was no. Commissioner Tuttle said there is a history of converting garages in Washburne, and it is not out of character to make this proposal. Ms. Broadhurst said that the first 6 feet of the space is to be used as a tool shop. She may put an ornamental grill on the door for security. The second door from the tool shop goes into the guest room. She said she can fence the area too. She will put on a window covering on the door. Commissioner Tuttle asked about City permits. Ms. Broadhurst said that she needs to get plwnbing but will not make any structural changes. Commissioner Tuttle said that the windows needs be tempered if they are within two feet of the door. Ms. Broadhurst was aware of that. She is proposing that the windows look like the windows on the main house and will be tempered. Commissioner Corbin asked if the application was corning in within the next month. Staff Jones said if the Commission was comfortable then she could process the application. Commissioner Tuttle asked if the skylights were a good idea or not. Commi..ioner Corbin said that since they are not facing the street, it is okay. The Commission made a motion to approve the proposed modifications. The motion carried. I ITEM 6: Land Use Application - 437 4'b Street Scott Cramblit, owner of the property, presented his application to remove the alwninwn siding on his house and replace it with drop lap siding. The house has lost it integrity over the years. They have replaced windows and shutters with vinyl. Mr. Cramblit looked at wooden windows but they were too expensive. When they retrimmed the windows, they did it in the craftsman style. They need to replace the alwninwn siding because there isn't any insulation in the walls. There is drop lap siding underneath known as profile 105, and they would use this type of siding. Commissioner Corbin said that he supports the proposal of taking off the aluminwn siding. Commissioner Tuttle asked whether a Type I application is necessary since the proposal is just to replace
