Property Location: Dated: 6585 Main Street, Springfield, OR 97477 February II, 1986 The above referenced building has been found to be unsafe for human occupancy due to the following conditions: Structural Hazards The floor dwelling extensi ve walls and structural (5) of conditions system in the attached structures south of the main is either deteriorated or missing. Evidence of deterioration and dilapidation is also evident in the roofs of the attached structures to the point that failure is possible. Sections 1001 (c), (2), (4) and the Springfield Housing Code (S.H.C.) cite these as structural hazards. *~ Hazardous Wiring Open splices, bare live conductors and open-face switches occur throughout the dwelling. Switch and outlet covers are not installed in many locations. Electrical boxes are not installed flush with the wall surface creating a potential fire hazard. Electric cook top wiring shows evidence of open splices within the adjacent wall. Several switch and outlet boxes are not adequately secured to adjacent framing. The electrical service panel is installed in a room which does not provide adequate weather protection. The service panel cover has been removed and wiring has been installed directly into the face of the service panel without providing the necessary wire protection. In addition, the wiring servirtg the water heater is not secured at the area of connection, nor are the electrical terminals within the water heater provided with protective cover plates. The presence of standing water in the attached south section of the dwelling causes exposed wlrlng in this area to be potentially hazardous. Section 1001 (e) of the S.H.C. considers these conditions to be hazardous wiring. Hazardous Plumbing Waste water from the dishwasher and kitchen sink discharge on the ground below the south section of the dwelling. Raw sewage is evident at the sewer cleanout in the south yard, indicating possible sewer line blockage or improper installation. Section 1001 (f) of S.H.C. considers these conditions to be hazardous plumbing. Hazardous Mechanical Equipment The existing woodstove in the dining area is installed without adequate clearances or protection from combustible materials. The woodstove is vented by single-wall stove pipe in the attic which creates a potential fire hazard. The existing woodstove shows signs on metal fatigue from over-firing and must be repaired or replaced. These conditions are in violation of Section 1001 (f) of the S.H.C. No person ent ry may permit. shall remain in or enter this building, except that such be made to repair, demolish or remove this building under Any person found to be in violation of a fine of not less than $50.00 imprisonment for a term not exceeding imprisonment. this notice may be punished by not more than $1,000.00 or 100 days or both such fine and #658
