Hi Alex
The "continuation" meeting sure sounds fun. Hope there is nothing too major that impacts your project. .
Based on your comments, it sounds as if things are good on the septic end. To rather obvious things to add.
One - things are good 10 go -assuming Ihat th-e current seplic system is not failing. Two - you can remain on
existing septic until public sewage is available - assuming the existing septic continues 10 function adequately. If
the drainfield fails, e.g. sewage is puddling on the ground then, you'll either need to repair/replace the existing
septic or connect to sewer.
No stormwater should be directed on to the drainfield.

Hi George,
Alex here from The Duck Store (formerly known as The UO Bookstore).
Sorry for the delay. I've made note of the distance from the S E corn!"r of our' building to the septic tank on the
PDF (130 FT). This inforrnation was previously incorrect when i last emailed you.
We're attending our "continuation" Deveiopment Issues Meeting (legislation has changed as of 01/01/08 so we
have a second DIM) tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at the (ity of Springfield and I'm hoping to have this information
nailed down for the meeting if ifs at all possible.
In December, you wrote me with this question:
My take would be that as long as you have legal access to the septic system, as long as the proposed
changes do not result in an increase in flow to the septic system, and as long as the proposed work
maintains setbacks from tank and drainfieId (and does not pave, cut, or fill the drainfield), then you
should be fine. Are all those conditions still true?
The proposed changes (attached) do not result in an increase in flow to the septic system and our architects will
setbacks from tank and drainfield. Since these conditions are all true, will we be able to proceed with our
planned nad remain on the existin9 tank until public sewage is made available?
Thank you so very much for your time!
Alex
