Fire Department Comments:
Access: OK as currently proposed. Any extension of the existing building to the west or
additional new buildings will require widening of the existing driveway to a minimum of 20 feet
clear width (2007 Springfield Fire Code 503.2,1); capable of supporting an 80,000 lb. load
(SFC 503.2.3 and SFC Appendix 0102.1); and "No Parking-Fire Lane" signs on both sides of
the driveway (SFC 503,3 and SFC Appendix D103.6).
Water Supply: OK as currently proposed, Any extension of the existing building or additional
buildings to the west can be built to approximately 260 west of the driveway entrance before
exceeding the 400 foot maximum hose length distance for commercial non-sprinklered
buildings or approximately 460 feet west of the driveway if fully sprinklered meeting NFPA 13
standards before exceeding the 600 foot maximum hose length distance for commercial
sprinklered buildings (SFC 508.5.1).
