Dear Ms. Markarian;
I live directly opposite the proposed development at 5560 High Banks Road, in
Springfield Assessor's Map No. 17-02-28-00, Tax Lot(s) 303. I am opposed to allowing
said development.
The proposed homes would not be in keeping with the rest of the homes on the street
because they would not face the street" rather they would be three deep with the sides of
the homes facing the street. This would be like so many hodge-podge developments on
. Main Street-out of place. If any homes are allowed to be built, then only designs where
the homes could be one deep and facing the street is in keeping with the style of this
neighborhood. '
As for the trees, I would prefer that they be left alone, as they are fully productive aiJ.d are
'also, esthetically'plellS,ing. A smaller-scale development would allow for most of the trees
to ~e!Iiarn. .TJlatIand has always been farm land, and to destroy it for an ugly, crowded,
dut~of~place design is irresponsible.
~oreover, the way the sale took place is also something I object to. It seems that perhaps
Mr. Dwyer was able to buy the property, without having a local agent list the property,
and without the property ,hitting the Multiple Listing Service. This has the air of a '
conflict of interest, given his position as a County Commissioner. I have lived in my
house for 31 years and my two daughters grew up here. One of my daughters, and her
husband, were interested in moving into the existing home on the proposed site; but it
was not listed. I feel the site should have been offered fust to those interested in
preserving it as it is. Besides that, the other Dwyer <\evelopment, at the end of E Street,
while also "single family" homes, 'has become more of an apartment feel because of the
high density. I object to the possibilitY of the same thing happening across the street
from me.
Please do not allow the proposed changes to the orchard property to include mUltiple
homes crowded in. Preserve'the orchard and the integrity of the neighborhood and allow
only two homes, or none.
