To Whom it may concern:
As a former city councilman, nearby resident and past president of the Washburne neighborh'ood, I am writing
to offer my comments about the proposal for the Springfield Justice Center and Jail.' , ,
First, I am fully supportive of the need for this facility and will vote for whatever tax needed to make it hapRe~,
It is in the design that I offer some reservations. Specifically, I dhave serious concerns of the shutting down of
B Street. '
It is a collector street, unlike A, ,and I would encourage the designers and council to rework the facility so that
A or 4th street is closed, not B, "
B street provides immediate and quick access needed not just for residenis, but for'emergency services as
well. Frankiy, as much as the police use Bstreet currently, I'm surprised they want it closed with the new
desi,g n,
I would also encourage easy access'from the center to main sireet vendors to encourage business in the core
area, '.
