1. The distance from the fire hydrant to the most remote point on the proposed modular
building exceeds the maximum 400 foot distance for a commercial non-sprinklered
building per 2007 Springfield Fire Code 508.5.1. Two possible options:
A. Provide sprinkler protection to the proposed building meeting NFPA 13
standards. This will in turn allow the distance to the fire hydrant from the
furthest point on the building be increased to 600 feet per SFC 508.5.1,
Exception 2. The scaled distance to the fire hydrant on 16th and G Streets is
approximately 500 feet. The scaled distarice to the fire hydrant on 16th and H
Streets is approximately 430 feet. However, the poposal would eliminate access
from H Street.
B. Provide a fire hydrant within the 400 foot maximum distance to the furthest
point on the proposed building. Contact Bart McKee or Rebecca Templin at
