'A yielding area was observed under the wheel loads near the middle of the west side of the pavement area. The area measured approximately 10 feet east/v.lest by. 31)prc);dmatel'y 30 feet north!south. Informed hy the.9wner's representative that the area will be over-excavated six inches in depth ancl replaced with iniported granular material. No detlection was visible under the wheel loads for the remainder of south half of the asphalt pavement area and driveway approach indicating a stable base is presently availahle. Yielding 'areas were observed under the wheel. loads on the north half of asphalt pavement . area, the middle of the concrete pavement area, and the south half of the bUlldmg.pad. The approximate locations of the yielding areas were marked on the ground with spray paint. The architect was contacted and informed .01' the proofi.oll ohservations. The architect directed the contractor to (lVer-excavate the yielding areas within the pavement sections six inches in depth and replace with imported granular material. The architect did not direct I any remedial action to be performed on the building pad subgrade. The south!half of the .. asphalt pavement area and driveway approach were not ready for proof-roll at the time of lour site visit.
