SiteRlan . (Trees to Remain . Trees to Remove . Design for half the site currently being proposed for Site Plan Review . Spread Sheet This spread sheet shows the original proposal for replacement of trees to be removed based on full development of the site by my client. Replacement Option #1 and #2 (March 2006) were based on the suggestions made in the report titled Vegetation I Revegetation Plan for the Game Farm Road Grove, dated September 11, 2002 by Ann Christiansen. The Tree Replacement chart is on Page 4. These replacement options were originally approved by Sarah Summers dated October 9, 2003. The total number of trees for one option is less than the other simply because the size of the replacement trees proposed was larger. This revised spreadsheet (November 2007) shows that some of the trees that were originally to be removed will actually remain. These are the Big Leaf Maple trees along Game Farm Road. Since there are currently no development plans for that site we didn't assume that those trees would be removed. They were originally planned for removal as part of the original plans and the client's desire. Whoever decides to purchase that piece of property will decide for themselves whether they are to be removed or not. I have assumed that all the other trees will be removed because it will be next to impossible to develop this as a commercial property and still preserve them. Those are trees # 17 and 20. . Also, since March 2006 the condition of some of the trees has deteriorated further. Specifically the 18" Pear, Tree #23 and the 72" Black Locust, Tree #16. The Pear Tree was simply pushed over as the trunk was rotten through and through. The Black Locust tree had been part of a crime scene. It had been set on fire, date unknown. I have included pictures of both of these trees. I have reduced the number of trees required to replace these based on their current condition. lL Photos of the 18" Pear and the 72" Black Locust. '\j ",-oj, to / ~ ~I\\ ~~~( uI feA .\,,~ ~ 0 ~ J~ ~ ~r{\iV ~ -fl\;W; r'\ ~ I also need your feedback on another small concern. There are 7' PUEs on all but the new proposed property line. This makes it impossible to locate trees as tree planting is not allowed on a PUE. We would like to locate the trees on Pheasant Street in the public ROWand count those towards the trees we are required to plant on our site. I am currently showing them on our property but in the PUE in the attached drawing. The reality of the situation is that this is a project site that is zoned commercial and being developed as such. This rarely leaves the necessary room to place a quantity of trees that is theoretically replacing an old grove. Common sense and flexibility need to prevail here for the success of this process for both the city and the client. According to the chart my client will need to provide 33 new trees on the entire site. We have shown 22 trees on the portion of the site that they plan on developing. The remaining 11 trees that will need to be planted to meet this quota will be tied to the remaining portion of this property through a restrictive covenant. The drawing indicates 11 trees on parcel 2 in no particular configuration since that portion will be designed at a future date by the future owner. If all of this meets with your approval I will instruct the client to obtain the necessary restrictive covenant and proceed accordingly. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you have any questions or concerns.
