Dear Lisa,
[am requesting an extension of my building permit from January 16,2009 to July 16,
2009. We have spoken a couple oftimes on the phone about my project so I will just
cover the broad picture now to refresh your memory.
I first applied in 2004 for a permit to extend the house from the "L" shape to the garage
with a new roofline over both house and garage and new garage doors and entry. At that
time my mother lived with me and so a wheelchair ramp into her bedroom was also
included. The contractor whom I hired to complete the work only showed up 13 days in
six months and took half of my budget. I needed to tear out much of the little that he had
done on the foundation and all of the floor joists. He also left all of the debris in my yard
for me to cl~an up and haul away.
Since then' [have hired out piecemeal jobs that [could not possibly do myself: jack-
hammering the bad cement slab, roof truss installation, garage wall and door installation.
The rest I h~ve either tackled myself or asked friends to help me. '
