MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL REGULAR MEETING OF
THE SPRINGFIELD CITY COUNCIL HELD
MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2009
The City of Springfield Council met in special regular session in the Council Meeting Room, 225
Fifth Street, Springfield, Oregon, on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 5:30 p.m., with Mayor Leiken
presiding.
ATTENDANCE
Present were Mayor Leiken and Councilors Lundberg, Wylie, Ralston, Woodrow and Pishioneri.
Also present were City Manager Gino Grimaldi, Assistant City Manager Jeff Towery, City
Attorney Joe Leahy, City Attorney Bill Van Vactor, City Recorder Amy Sowa and members of
the staff.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Leiken.
BUSINESS FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY
1. Mavor and Council Members - Oath of Office.
During the May 20,2008 Primary Election, Sidney W. Leiken received the majority of votes for
the position of Springfield Mayor; Terri Leezer received the majority of votes for the position of
City Councilor Ward 3; Dave Ralston received the majority of votes for the position of City
Councilor Ward 4; and Joe Pishioneri received the majority of votes for the position of City
Councilor Ward 6.
Section 27 in the Springfield Charter states, "Before assuming his or her office, each City officer
shall take an oath or shall affirm that he or she will faithfully perform the duties of the office and
support the constitution and laws of the United States, the State of Oregon and the City of
Springfield. "
City Attorney Joe Leahy administered the Oath of Office for Mayor Sidney W. Leiken and City
Councilor Terri Leezer.
City Attorney Bill Van Vactor administered the Oath of Office for City Councilors Dave Ralston
and Joe Pishioneri.
Mayor Leiken welcomed new Councilor Terri Leezer.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
