this report. .
. SITE INSPECTIONS
Buttress Retaining Walls .'
We inspected the site during construction of the buttress retaining walis (designed by K & A Engineering, inc.
and provided with our suppiemental recommendations dated October 18,2006). Two terraced retaining walis,
consisting of segmental masonry facing with geogrid-reinforced mechanicaliy stabilized earth backfili, were
constructed to our specifications for materials and methods. The subgrade for these walis was prepared
according to our recommendations and consisted of dense basalt silty-graveliy coliuvium and bedrock.
Foundation Pad. . . . . . . .
The foundation pad located.below the retaining walis, adjacent to the street right-of-way, consists of two
benches cut into the native dense basalt coiluvial silty-sandy-graveliycoliuvium. 'A thin lift (approXimately 3 to
4-ihchesof :y.,-inch minus dense-graded crushed aggregate was placed on the undisturbed coliuviai subgrade,
SUMMARY. AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on our site inspections, itis our opinion that the site has been adequately prepared according to our
